FabSpace 2.0: the first Open Day on March 9

we're plesed to announce the first FabSpace 2.0 Open Day.

The FabLab 2.0 is a network of innovation linked to geo-information and spatial data involving 2.0 universities. Funded by Horizon 2020, the FabSpace 2.0 Project aims to launch a series of Cooperating centers - the FabSpace - opened to the public and dedicated to the development of innovative services in European universities and European Space Agency (ESA) BIC incubators. In six countries (France, Italy, Germany, Belgium, Poland and Greece), FabSpace is open to welcome students, researchers, entrepreneurs, public and private companies.

On the 9th of March 2017 at 10.00 a.m the FabSpace of  "Tor Vergata"University of Rome - LEONARDO room, Didactics Building - welcome anyone interested to earth observation and spatial data business opportunities and innovation.
During the meeting will be shown how satellite data may support several importat activities  (land and environmental protection, design and infrastructures management ...), all activities which may improved by space geo-spatial data just available and open data.

Experts from several research bodies, European Space Agency(ESA) and Italian Space Agency (ASI) will illustrate application opportunities in several sectors.

The Head of Italian FabSpace 2.0 Project, prof. Fabio Del Frate, Department of Civil Engineering and Computer Engineering, University of Rome" Tor Vergata "underlines: " The FabSpace aims to be a physical place where, on the basis of technical and scientific skills, you may conceive a new generation of services based on satellite data, or another data geographic data. The objective is lure young entrepreneurial in order to innovate the production and decision-making processes in several strategic sectors (agrifood, transportation, nfrastructure, land management and urban areas).

The initiative is the first FabSpace in Italy which is built on the FabLab model. It is aimed to link"big data", "cloud computing" and "open data" (also coming from local authorities) in order to  transforming social innovation challenges in new tools and new business model by the support of  ESA BIC and BIC Lazio.For this reason BIC Lazio, partner of Tor Vergata University in the project, will organize in the late of March 2017 an Open Day within its BIC ESA Incubator at Technopole Tiburtino, addressed to institutions, start-up and digital enterprises.  The event will be finalized to show Markets cases which use EO satellite data in order to develop a new commercial sercices.
