One of our major annual events took place during the International Paris Air & Space Show at Le Bourget on 20 June 2017 at the ESA pavilion.
The introduction to Round table “Our common future on space and security. Where are we today?” has been performed by Jan Woerner, ESA Director General.
WIA-Europe was honored to host to a roundtable panelists such as:
- Jean-Yves Le Gall, President of IAF and CNES
- Kai-Uwe Schrogl, President of International Institute of Space Law
- Gerd Kraft, DLR Space administration in Bonn
- Roberto Battiston, President of ASI
- Jean Loic Galle, President and CEO of Thales Alenia Space
- Fatoumata Kebe, PhD of Paris Observatory
The roundtable was moderated by Christina Giannopapa, WIA-E Director of Professional Development, and Fiorella Coliolo, WIA-E Director of Corporate Members and Events.
The participation of all the high level representatives of the space coming from agency, industry, academy and research provided a very interesting discussion on an important topic for Europe like Space and Security.
The round table was followed by an impressive speech by Claudie Haignere, ESA Astronaut and DG Special Advisor, on “Space for Inspiration and Women’s Leadership”, in which she emphasized the importance of curiosity to expand the knowledge.
The event was closed by the Award Ceremony moderated by Chris Welch, WIA-E Chairman, Awards & Grants Committee, and by the WIA-E Testimonial Video presented by Annamaria Nassisi, WIA-E Director of Communication. The movie has been followed by all the participants during the networking.
