Combining 40 years of experience and a unique diversity of expertise, talents and cultures, Thales Alenia Space architects design and deliver high technology solutions for telecommunications, navigation, Earth observation, environmental management, exploration, science and orbital infrastructures. Governments, institutions and companies rely on Thales Alenia Space to design, operate and deliver satellite-based systems that help them position and connect anyone or anything, everywhere, help observe our planet, help optimize the use of our planet’s – and our solar system’s – resources. Thales Alenia Space believes in space as humankind’s new horizon, which will enable to build a better, more sustainable life on Earth.
A joint venture between Thales (67%) and Leonardo (33%), Thales Alenia Space also teams up with Telespazio to form the parent companies’ Space Alliance, which offers a complete range of services and solutions. Thales Alenia Space posted consolidated revenues of about 2.5 billion euros in 2018 and has around 8,000 employees in nine countries.
“Space for life”
Our mission at Thales Alenia Space is embodied in “Space for Life”. What it means in practice in designing and building satellites, spacecraft and instruments that help monitor our climate and adapt to any changes.
“Your task is not to foresee the future, but to enable it.” This quote from Antoine de Saint-Exupéry provides a blueprint going forward. “Space for Life” sets us on the path to action, and also spotlights the fact that space is a strong lever when a change in direction is needed, not only for today, but for the generations to come and the future of humanity.
Thanks to our people and their exceptional diversity of skills, our customers have space to explore, to observe, to protect, to secure, to defend, to travel, to navigate and to connect. We believe that space can create a better, more sustainable life on Earth, for all of us.
We have been delivering high-quality technologies to some of the world’s most demanding customers for decades – and that’s a sure sign of our culture of commitment, partnership and responsiveness.
Our customers benefit from the new solutions emerging from our agile and empowered teams. Our ways of working are evolving. Digital technologies are revolutionizing our industrial processes. By leveraging them, we can design and build more quickly and more efficiently.
Thales Alenia Space is an industry leader in deploying Factory 4.0 processes.
Additive manufacturing, robots and cobots, virtual and augmented reality and more are already part of our processes. We have pilot lines and incubator projects at our plants around the world.
In the fiercely competitive satellite market, manufacturers have to produce “more, faster and cheaper”. Our factories of the future incorporate the state-of-the-art, cost-competitive technologies needed to achieve that.
Thales Alenia Space is already working in the “New Space” paradigm, with new partners on smaller, competitively-priced satellites that enable a wide variety of applications for Earth Observation, Telecommunications and even the Internet of Things (IoT)
For several years now, we have been collaborating with start-ups and agile young companies who need a mature industrial partner to transform their ideas into reality.
