ZARM is a research institute of the University of Bremen operating the ZARM Drop Tower, the only ground-based microgravity laboratory in Europe. Here in Bremen scientists from all over the world are investigating gravity-relevant phenomena under microgravity conditions of the highest quality. Moreover, the unique ZARM catapult system allows doubling the experiment time to 9.3 seconds – a feature no other drop tower can provide.
However, ZARM is not only the home of the Drop Tower, but also of many different – yet closely connected – research groups covering microgravity-related topics like fluid dynamics, combustion or fundamental physics. This extraordinarily wide range of expertise in the field space science is one of the key features of ZARM.
