Dear WIA-E members,
Asteroid landing does not happen every day! But soon on the 3rd October:

MASCOT is a lander on board the Japanese Hayabusa2 spacecraft. The destination of the mission is the asteroid Ryugu.
MASCOT will touch down on the surface, ‘hop hop’ from location to location, and carry out measurements at various points on an asteroid for the first time in history.
(The photo Spacecraftselfie: at a distance of 300 million km from Earth, the Japanese spacecraft #Hayabusa2 photographed its own shadow on the asteroid Ryugu)
Project Manager of the MASCOT Dr. Tra-Mi Ho will show us the DLR development facility and the test models, and tell us all about the mission, hopefully the successful landing and her role.
For those who cannot join the event till 14th October there is ‘Contact with an asteroid – Hayabusa2 and MASCOT’ Exhibition at the town hall in Bremen. Admission is free of charge.
