IAC EVENING 2019
Symposium organized by the Netherlands Space Society
in collaboration with SpaceNed
December 4th 2019
NLR Amsterdam
The 70th International Astronautical Congress (IAC) 2019 held in Washington had the theme “Space: The Power of the Past, the Promise of the Future”.
More than 6.800 space enthusiasts coming from over 80 countries gathered in the grand city of Washington, D.C. for an intense week of events, meetings, collaborations and discovering.
The IAC 2019 started on Monday 21 October 2019 with the Honorable Mike Pence, Vice President of the United States, confirming the USA plans to go forward to the Moon and land the first woman and the next man on the Lunar surface by 2024.
IAC 2019 also featured an extensive programme, including countless technical presentations, panel discussion and bilateral meetings. The largest ever IAC Exhibition welcomed several side activities, many of those dedicated to STEM and outreach to the general public and school children. The IAC 2019 also saw the participation of numerous astronauts/cosmonauts and featured a dedicated astronauts panel open to the general public.
As tradition, the NVR organizes an IAC evening soon after the IAC, in order to give our members who could not attend the conference in person, the chance to listen to some of the presentations and to obtain an update on the most important news.
