Why science? How interesting is the science that ends up becoming our day to day, both professionally and personally? What difficulties do you face when you finish your studies and enter the professional world? Could science, like many other areas, be affected by gender discrimination?
During this round table, the role of women in science from a generational point of view will be discussed, under the title “Space from home: get to know the IEEC through its scientists”. You will know the opinion of four scientists, members of the IEEC, who will tell us about their experience as a woman working in the world of science.
We have the attendance of Francesca Figueras, professor of the Department of Quantum Physics and Astrophysics at the University of Barcelona (UB), Mercè Vall·llossera full professor in the research group “Space Sciences and Technologies” (CTE) at the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya ( UPC), Mar Mezcua senior researcher and scientist in the Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Científicas (CSIC) of the Institute of Space Sciences (ICE) and Camilla Maggio, Postdoctoral Researcher at the Center for Space Studies and Research (CERES) in the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB).
Women in Aerospace Europe Barcelona and Institute of Space Studies of Catalonia (IEEC) are the organizers of this round table. Mercedes Reche will be the moderator during the talk, which will present the four scientists’ members of IEEC.
We encourage you to participate in the virtual round table that will take place on May 6th from 18:00 to 19:00 via IEEC Youtube channel. The last 15 minutes will be the turn of questions where the participants will be able to solve our doubts.
See you there!
