The DLR and the University of the Federal Armed Forces Munich have established a strong scientific cooperation in the field of system dynamics and control technology, which is to be further intensified. 20 professors and approx. 240 scientific employees research and teach at the Faculty of Aerospace Engineering at the University of the Federal Armed Forces in Munich. The faculty covers the entire technical breadth of aerospace applications and methodically focuses on the areas of design and operation of complex systems in aerospace, aerodynamics, thermodynamics and fluid dynamics as well as construction methods and materials. Automotive systems are also an important part of the research activities. The DLR is the research center of the Federal Republic of Germany for aerospace. His research and development work in aeronautics, space travel, energy, transport, security and digitization is integrated into national and international cooperations. The Institute for System Dynamics and Automatic Control with its 80 employees has internationally recognized expertise in the modeling, control and optimization of complex dynamic systems in the application areas of aerospace, robotics and mobility. We are looking for an excellently qualified personality with an internationally recognized scientific reputation and a research activity in the field of system dynamics and control engineering. Proven expertise in advanced modeling and control methods and one or more application areas worked on by the institute are expected. Knowledge in the fields of optimization and artificial intelligence in control engineering are important additional qualifications. Many years of professional and management experience in university/scientific operations or in an industrial environment are also expected, as well as excellent didactic skills and academic teaching experience. Proven experience in the management of international interdisciplinary scientific projects as well as successful third-party funding are desirable. Prerequisites for employment are a doctorate and additional academic achievements, e.g. B. can be proven by a habilitation. Furthermore, the assumption of equality and diversity-oriented management responsibility is expected.
The job holder is expected to participate in teaching at the faculty for aerospace engineering at the University of the Federal Armed Forces in Munich to the extent of two trimester hours per week.
The future job holder will be appointed as a university professor at the University of the Federal Armed Forces in Munich and given leave to take over the management of the DLR Institute at the German Aerospace Center.
