Women In Aerospace Europe is pleased to announce the launch of a new Regional Network in Slovakia!
The primary focus at WIA-Europe RN Slovakia is to build a strong community for young women in the Slovak aerospace industry.
By emphasising advocacy, education and outreach, professional development, and fostering industry partnerships, WIA-Europe RN Slovakia will aim to inspire girls and young women to explore this field’s exciting opportunities.
Through targeted initiatives and strategic implementation, this Regional Network will strive to empower the next generation of women in aerospace and create a more inclusive and diverse industry.
Meet The Leaders:
Lenka Tkáčová is the Communication & Education Manager of the Slovak Space Office Industry Branch, responsible for outreach and engagement with schools, universities, and companies in the Slovak space ecosystem. She is also a Slovak delegate to the ESA Advisory Committees on communication and education.
With a background in international relations and security studies, Lenka attended the ECSL Course on Space Law and Policy and actively contributed to the Slovak Space Policy Association. At IAC 2024 in Milan, she presented “Taking Off Together: Supporting Female Professional Inclusion in the Slovak Space Ecosystem,” based on interviews with women in the industry, laying the groundwork for a WIA-E chapter in Slovakia.
The Slovak Space Office Industry Branch develops the national space ecosystem, fosters bilateral international cooperation, and serves as Slovakia‘s contact point for global space agencies, businesses, and researchers, promoting integration into European industrial structures and international projects.
Nicole Majská is Slovakia’s National Contact Point for the European Space Programme at CVTISR, supporting initiatives under EUSPA and ESA and aiding Slovak organisations in space-related projects. A computer science and robotics graduate from University College London, Nicole previously worked at ESA, where she developed a VR simulation of lunar base life for the Artemis program.
Her passion for space exploration has led her to promote ESA’s mission internationally, including presenting at IAC Dubai and Paris and engaging with astronaut Luca Parmitano during ESA’s Researchers’ Night.
CVTISR supports Slovak research and innovation, bridging technical advancements with public understanding. Nicole combines her technical expertise and outreach efforts to expand Slovakia’s role in the European space industry.
