The Hungary Regional Network was founded in March 2025.
The Hungary Regional Network aims to foster diversity, inclusion, and professional growth within the country’s aerospace sector. This Regional Network will provide a platform for collaboration, knowledge exchange, and career development opportunities for professionals and aspiring talents in the field. By connecting industry leaders, researchers, and students, the Hungary network will contribute to strengthening the presence and impact of women in aerospace, while also promoting innovation and international cooperation. Through events, mentoring programs, and networking activities, WIA-Europe Hungary RN seeks to inspire and support the next generation of aerospace professionals in the region.

Hungary made history as the 7th nation in space with Bertalan Farkas, who became the first Hungarian cosmonaut in 1980. Now, Hungary is set to continue its space legacy with the HUNOR (Hungarian to Orbit) Programme to send Tibor Kapu, the next Hungarian astronaut, into space in 2025. >>
- WizzAir: Hungary’s Leading Airline and Advocate for Women in Aerospace
WizzAir is Hungary’s largest low-cost airline, founded in 2003, with a mission to provide affordable air travel across Europe and beyond. WizzAir is committed to sustainability, boasting one of the lowest CO₂ emissions per passenger-kilometer among European carriers.
The She Can Fly program, launched by WizzAir, is dedicated to empowering young women to pursue careers in aviation and aerospace. The program offers aspiring female pilots the opportunity to receive comprehensive training from scratch, with the goal of becoming a First Officer within two years. Upon successful completion, participants are offered positions at WizzAir, promoting gender diversity in the aviation industry. >>

Hungary’s space activities are guided by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade (MFA), which develops the National Space Strategy for 2021-2030 to strengthen the country’s position in the global space industry. Led by Orsolya Ferencz, Ph.D., the MFA is also driving initiatives like the National Space Exploration Fund to support space research and industry. >>
